Sen. Kay Hagan (D-N.C.) has introduced a bill that would require the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services to begin a demonstration program to study and support cooperative approaches among hospitals, state health agencies and the HHS, according to a report by AHA News Now.
The Culture of Safety Hospital Accountability Act (S. 3596) would allow federal and state health agencies and hospitals to work together to implement and promote best practices for improving quality and patient safety, according to the report.
The American Hospital Association has publicly supported the bill, calling it "essential to achieving the promise of healthcare reform."
