Sacred Heart Hospital in Pensacola, Fla., has announced plans for a major expansion that will include a new five-story tower containing 112 private patient rooms, according to a hospital news release.
The expansion is estimated to cost $57 million. The tower, which will be constructed on top of the hospital's Heart and Vascular Institute building, will begin next spring and is expected to take place over a four-year period.
Officials at Sacred Heart and Ascension Health, the hospital's parent company, approved the plan in order to meet the increasing demands of an aging baby boom generation and the anticipated population growth in Northwest Florida, among other driving factors.
