Exempla Lutheran Medical Center in Wheat Ridge, Colo., will be cutting its work force by approximately 6.5 percent — or 160 positions — due to a weak economy and healthcare reform, according to an ABC report.
A decrease in patient admissions and increase in uninsured and underinsured patients are among the hospital's challenges, according to the report. One-third of the job cuts will affect management and nonclinical employees, and all affected employees will receive severance packages and outplacement assistance.
