County Gives Pardee Hospital Final Say on CEO Selection

Henderson County commissioners have voted to allow the board of directors of Pardee Hospital in Hendersonville, N.C., to have the final say on the selection of a new CEO, according to a Times-News report.

In March, the county commissioners made two amendments to the Pardee Hospital Articles of Incorporation. This recent vote retracts the amendment concerning selection of a CEO because the commissioners have been satisfied with the hospital trustees' search process, according to the report. The hospital plans to announce the CEO on Wednesday.

The second amendment, which gives commissioners the final say on a proposed joint venture between Pardee and Mission Hospital in Asheville, N.C., remains unchanged.

According to the report, Mike Edney, chairman of the Board of Commissioners, said the board had originally made the amendments to ensure Pardee did not make any major decisions while commissioners pursued a possible management affiliation with Chapel Hill-based UNC Health Care System. As discussions with UNC Health Care move forward, the commissioners retain their oversight of joint venture agreements but allow the hospital control of CEO selection.
