Yale names associate chair of pediatric quality, safety

Thomas Murray, MD, PhD, has been named associate chair for quality and safety in the department of pediatrics at Yale School of Medicine in New Haven, Conn. 

In this role, Dr. Murray will develop a strategic quality and safety plan for pediatrics, assist with initiatives to advance the culture of safety at Yale New Haven Children's Hospital and mentor junior faculty in quality improvement. 

He is a professor of pediatric infectious diseases and the associate medical director for infection prevention at the children's hospital. Since 2021, he has served as fellowship program director for pediatric infectious diseases, a role he has stepped down from. Inci Yildirim, MD, PhD, took over the position on July 23. 

Dr. Murray is well known for his leadership in advancing pediatric quality and safety, according to a July 29 news release. He began working with the Pediatric Quality Academy as a quality improvement coach in 2023.
