Wheeling (W. Va.) Hospital appointed Douglass E. Harrison as its new CEO, effective June 20.
Morgantown-based West Virginia University Medicine will provide management services for the hospital, and hospital operations will be the responsibility of Mr. Harrison.
Most recently, Mr. Harrison served as executive vice president of healthcare integration and network development for WVU Medicine. He previously worked at University of Pittsburgh Medical Center.
Mr. Harrison succeeds Ron Violi, who retired May 24.
"As we launched our search for a new CEO, we discussed the potential formal relationship with the West Virginia University Health System, the largest health provider in West Virginia, with a nationally recognized patient-centered system of care," said Wheeling Hospital Board Chair Lawrence Bandi.
As CEO of Wheeling Hospital, Mr. Harrison will lead operations of two hospitals, eight health centers, a continuous care center and wellness center.
