Yakima (Wash.) Valley Memorial President and CEO Carole Peet, MSN, RN, will depart the hospital later in January, according to a statement shared with Becker's.
Dave Hargreaves, Yakima Valley Memorial's board chair, said Ms. Peet will step down after three years in the role.
Ms. Peet became president and CEO of Yakima Valley Memorial (previously Virginia Mason Memorial) in February 2020.
During her tenure, the hospital completed an affiliation unwind from Seattle-based Virginia Mason Health System and participated in acquisition discussions with Tacoma, Wash.-based MultiCare Health System, Mr. Hargreaves said. In October, MultiCare and Yakima Valley Memorial announced that they reached an acquisition agreement.
"My time here at Memorial has been a great professional experience and I am deeply proud of what we achieved together," Ms. Peet said in a statement. "Over the past three years, we have faced the challenge of a once-in-a-lifetime pandemic and created a strategic vision of sustainability for the future. I am confident the MultiCare acquisition will assure that there is access to high quality, affordable healthcare for residents of the Yakima Valley well into the future."
Mr. Hargreaves said Tammy Buyok, vice president of facilities management and operation support services at MultiCare, was selected to serve as interim president once MultiCare's acquisition of Yakima Valley Memorial receives regulatory approval. Both entities expect the proposed affiliation to be effective by Jan. 31 at the latest, subject to satisfaction of closing conditions, according to a notice of affiliation agreement.
