Walter Johnson picked as chairman of Arkansas Hospital Association: 5 things to know

Walter Johnson Jr., president and CEO of Pine Bluff, Ark.-based Jefferson Hospital Association and Jefferson Regional Medical Center, was elected board chairman of the Arkansas Hospital Association for 2016-17.

Here are five things to know about Mr. Johnson.

1. He has been with Jefferson Hospital Association for 21 years.

2. Previously, he served almost 14 years with Humana, Health Management Associates and others in Alabama, Florida and Georgia.  

3. He is also a past member of the American Hospital Association Regional Policy Board.  

4. Mr. Johnson earned a bachelor's degree in business administration from the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa and a master's degree in health services administration from the University of Alabama – Birmingham.

5. His term as chairman of the Arkansas Hospital Association runs October 2015 to October 2017.
