Waukegan, Ill.-based Vista Health System CEO Barbara Martin abruptly stepped down from her role, according to a Chicago Daily Herald report.

1. Hospital officials have not given a reason for Ms. Martin's departure or any details regarding a replacement.
2. Ms. Martin served at the helm of the two-hospital health system for 14 years.
3. She came to Vista Health Services in 2003 as COO, before she was named president and CEO.
4. She played an instrumental role in facilitating Franklin, Tenn.-based Community Health Systems' acquisition of Vista Health Services, which was then renamed Vista Health System.
5. She is a fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives.
