Jon Duval, CEO of Richmond, Va.-based VCU Hospitals and Clinics and vice president for clinical affairs, announced plans to retire, effective Sept. 30, but he will stay on as an advisor to the health system through March 17, 2017.
In his advisory role, Mr. Duval will assist with health policy issues during the Virginia legislative session.
Mr. Duval has been in his current role with VCU since 2003. He was previously COO of University Medical Center at the University of Arizona Health Sciences Center in Tucson.
"Jon may be leaving but the impact of his energetic and visionary leadership lives on in an enduring institutional commitment to provide unsurpassed quality and compassionate healthcare that is accessible to all and raises the bar for academic health centers across the country," wrote Michael Rao, PhD, president of VCU and VCU Heath System, and Marsh Rappley, MD, CEO of VCU Health System and vice president of VCU Health Sciences.
