Erie, Pa.-based UPMC Hamot President Jim Fiorenzo is retiring, effective June 30, 2017. He has worked at the hospital for 42 years, assuming the role of president in 2012.
Prior to becoming president, Mr. Fiorenzo served in various roles at the hospital, including COO and senior vice president of strategic and support services. During his tenure as president, the hospital saw $153 million in improvements to its facilities and opened Magee-Womens, UPMC Hamot in Erie.
David Gibbons, executive vice president and COO of UPMC Hamot, will succeed Mr. Fiorenzo, effective March 31, 2017. Mr. Fiorenzo will help with the executive transition until his retirement.
Mr. Gibbons has served in his current roles since 2012. He previously served as president of UPMC Northwest in Seneca, Pa., and COO at Kennedy Health System in Voorhees, N.J.
