University of Vermont Health Network appoints physician CIO

The four-hospital University of Vermont Health Network in Burlington has appointed Adam Buckley, MD, as its new CIO.

Prior to joining the Medical Center in 2012, where he has served as interim CIO and in a number of other administrative IT roles, Dr. Buckley was a member of the faculty at Beth Israel Medical Center in New York City. There he held the positions of associate chairman for quality and patient safety and associate director of the residency program.

"Dr. Buckley has served in an interim CIO position for the medical center for approximately a year, and during that time he has effectively assumed leadership for a number of significant UVM Health Network-level information technology initiatives," John Brumsted, president and CEO of the UVM Health Network and CEO of UVM Medical Center, said in a statement. "My working experience with Adam and witnessing the results he has achieved makes me feel quite confident in his selection as the network CIO."
