The University of Rochester (N.Y.) Medical Center has named David A. Kirshner, MBA, CFO. Mr. Kirshner will join URMC in January, following the retirement of Michael Goonan in December.
Mr. Kirshner has more than three decades of experience in public accounting, hospital financial management and CFO positions in academic medicine. He is credited with leading a significant financial turnaround at Boston Children's Hospital.
Most recently, Mr. Kirshner served as vice president of corporate and business development for Valence Health in Chicago. He was also the founding director and senior CFO consultant of Warbird Consulting Partners in Atlanta, which advises academic medical centers on research enterprise strategy, infrastructure and business capabilities.
He also held top finance positions at Massachusetts' Winchester Healthcare Management, Anna Jaques Hospital in Newburyport, Mass., and Sturdy Memorial Hospital in Attleboro, Mass.
