Denver-based UCHealth named Christopher A. Gessner president and CEO of University of Colorado Hospital on the Anschutz Medical Campus in Aurora, effective February 2019.

1. Mr. Gessner will also oversee other facilities in the metro Denver region including Broomfield (Colo.) Hospital, the yet-to-open Highlands Ranch (Colo.) Hospital and several outpatient locations.
2. He is currently president of UPMC Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh and UPMC Western Psychiatric Hospital, also in Pittsburgh.
3. He has also held leadership roles at Danville, Pa.-based Geisinger Health System and Guthrie Healthcare System in Sayre, Pa.
4. Mr. Gessner holds master's degrees in healthcare administration and business from the University of Pittsburgh.
