UC Irvine Health in Orange, Calif., named William Wilson, MD, CMO.
Here are five notes.
1. Dr. Wilson takes over the permanent CMO role after serving as interim CMO for nearly a year.
2. Before becoming interim CMO, Dr. Wilson was director of critical care services at UC Irvine Health, according to a letter from Howard Federoff, MD, PhD, vice chancellor of health affairs and CEO of UC Irvine Health.
3. In the director role, he led more than 25 separate evidence-based protocols and clinical pathways. He was also responsible for initiating the systems which called for "allowing UC Irvine Health physicians to view medical imaging of outside hospitals prior to patient transfer," said Dr. Federoff.
4. Previously, Dr. Wilson also worked as vice chairman of the department of anesthesiology and chief in the division of critical care medicine at UC San Diego.
5. He earned a medical degree from Philadelphia-based Temple University.
