The Little Rock-based University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences has promoted two interim leaders to permanent posts within its healthcare system.
Michelle Krause, MD, was named senior vice chancellor for UAMS Health and CEO of UAMS Medical Center, according to a Jan. 17 news release from the health system. She has served UAMS for 20 years, most recently as chief clinical officer, before becoming interim CEO in September.
Ahmed Abuabdou, MD, was tapped as the new chief clinical officer. He, too, has served in the interim role since September. Dr. Abuabdou has held multiple leadership roles within the health system since joining in 2012, including associate chief medical officer and leader of the UAMS Physician Advisor Group.
