Teresa Edwards tapped to oversee Sentara Healthcare regions: 4 things to know

Teresa Edwards has been promoted to corporate vice president for Norfolk, Va.-based Sentara Healthcare's Peninsula and Western Tidewater regions, effective June 1, according to an Inside Business report.

Here are four things to know about Ms. Edwards.

1. She has served as president of Sentara Leigh Hospital in Norfolk since 2008.

2. Under her leadership, Sentara Leigh Hospital executed a campus master plan that included expanding the emergency department, modernizing and expanding surgery and sterile support services and construction of two five-story patient towers and a new atrium lobby, according to the report.

3. In her new role, officials said Ms. Edwards will oversee Sentara CarePlex Hospital in Hampton, Va., Sentara Williamsburg (Va.) Regional Medical Center and Sentara Obici Hospital in Suffolk, Va.

4. Additionally, Ms. Edwards will oversee the Sentara Life Care (seniors) division and Sentara Enterprises, which includes Sentara Home Care and Hospice Services and Medical Transport, as well as the Sentara Orthopedic and Oncology services lines.
