Dallas-based Tenet Healthcare Corp. promoted Octavio Diaz, MD, to the CMO role, effective Dec. 1. He will oversee Tenet's clinical and quality improvement efforts throughout its 79 hospitals and affiliated facilities.
Dr. Diaz most recently served as CMO for Tenet's Florida and Northeast Regions, which includes 19 acute-care hospitals as well as affiliated outpatient facilities and freestanding emergency and urgent care centers. Previously, he served as CMO and chief of the emergency department at Saint Vincent Hospital in Worcester, Mass., a Tenet facility.
An emergency medicine physician by training, Dr. Diaz completed his residency in emergency medicine at the University of Massachusetts Medical Center in Worcester.
"With nearly three decades of clinical experience and 16 years of executive healthcare leadership, [Dr. Diaz] will build on Tenet's foundation of improving clinical outcomes and enhancing medical staff collaboration," said Eric Evans, president of hospital operations at Tenet.
