Dallas-based Tenet Healthcare appointed 10 group CEOs following the elimination of its regional hospital operations structure and implementation of a more streamlined, market-based operating structure.
The new market-based structure organizes the Tenet family into 10 operating groups. The CEOs of the groups will report directly to Eric Evans, president of hospital operations for Tenet. Each group CEO will remain in their existing hospital and market CEO roles while taking on new responsibilities that support the needs of all the hospitals within the group.
The 10 group CEOs are:
Northern California Group (six hospitals): Warren Kirk
Mr. Kirk is CEO of Doctors Medical Center of Modesto (Calif.) and the Central Valley Market.
Southern California Group (seven hospitals): Michele Finney
Ms. Finney is CEO of Desert Regional Medical Center in Palm Springs, Calif., and the Desert and Coachella Valley Market.
Arizona Group (nine hospitals): Frank Molinaro
Mr. Molinaro is CEO of the Abrazo Central and Abrazo Scottsdale campuses, both in Phoenix, and the Phoenix Market.
Alabama, Tennessee and Missouri Group (eight hospitals): Keith Parrott
Mr. Parrott is CEO of Brookwood Baptist Medical Center in Birmingham, Ala., and the Birmingham Market.
South Carolina and Massachusetts Group (seven hospitals): Jeff Welch
Mr. Welch is CEO of Saint Vincent Hospital in Worcester, Mass., and the Massachusetts Market.
Michigan, Pennsylvania and Illinois Group (13 hospitals): Anthony J. Tedeschi, MD
Dr. Tedeschi is CEO of Detroit Medical Center.
Miami-Dade Group (five hospitals): Ana Mederos
Ms. Mederos is CEO of Palmetto General Hospital in Hialeah, Fla.
Palm Beach Group (five hospitals): Mark Bryan
Mr. Bryan is CEO of Delray Medical Center in Delray Beach, Fla.
El Paso and the Rio Grande Valley Group (six hospitals): Sally Deitch, RN
Ms. Deitch is CEO of The Hospitals of Providence Memorial Campus in El Paso, Texas, and the El Paso Market.
San Antonio and North Texas Group (11 hospitals): Matt Stone
Mr. Stone is stepping into the CEO role at Baptist Medical Center in San Antonio and the San Antonio Market.
"As we continue to reorganize, our group CEOs, in collaboration with Hospital Service Center leaders, will begin selecting group leads in key functional areas such as nursing, physician leadership, human resources, compliance, and finance," said Mr. Evans in a memo to staff. "These group leads will serve as coordinators for those functions to assist the group and the group CEOs. The group structure will not involve additional staffing, and the CEOs and all leads will continue to fulfill their hospital roles."
In its preliminary financial results for the third quarter of 2017, Tenet reports the company is expecting a net loss of approximately $366 million. The company also announced a cost reduction initiative, which includes eliminating approximately 1,300 positions, including contractors.
Additionally, Tenet's longtime leader Trevor Fetter stepped down from his role as CEO and resigned as a director of the company in late October. Board Executive Chairman Ronald A. Rittenmeyer will serve as CEO during the search for a permanent leader.
