Erik Wexler has been named senior vice president and CEO of Providence Health & Services, Southern California, effective May 2.
Here are four things to know about Mr. Wexler.
1. Most recently, Mr. Wexler served as CEO of Dallas-based Tenet Healthcare's Northeast Region where he oversaw operations in Massachusetts, Pennsylvania and Illinois.
2. In his new role, he will replace Karl Carrier, who came out of retirement two years ago to serve as interim CEO of Providence, Southern California.
3. At Providence, Southern California, Mr. Wexler will lead a regional organization anchored by six hospitals, numerous outpatient centers and programs, two large physician groups and Burbank, Calif.-based Providence High School.
4. He also will work closely with St. Joseph Health, based in Irvine, Calif., as Providence and St. Joseph pursue their proposal to create a combined new organization, according to a news release.
