Daniel Cancelmi, executive vice president and CFO of Dallas-based Tenet Healthcare, will retire at the end of 2023, according to a Jan. 19 news release.
Mr. Cancelmi will onboard and mentor his successor as part of the transition process.
He has had a decadeslong career at Tenet, beginning as CFO of Hahnemann University Hospital, a former Tenet hospital in Philadelphia. In 1999, he transitioned to Tenet's corporate office in Dallas and served in a variety of finance positions, including senior vice president and CFO, senior vice president and controller and principal accounting officer.
"Dan was instrumental in the recent transformation of Tenet's performance and improvement of the balance sheet," Tenet CEO Saum Sutaria, MD, said in the news release. "Dan is an inspirational leader with a long legacy at Tenet, starting as a hospital CFO to becoming our corporate CFO. He is a tireless advocate for our people and company. The strength of our finance function at corporate and across our business units is a testament to Dan's leadership, operational acumen, and commitment to Tenet."
Mr. Cancelmi's retirement is one of nine executive leadership changes taking place at the 61-hospital system this year.
