Tarek A. Salaway has been named COO of Mission Hospital in California, according to a news release.
The hospital, with campuses in Laguna Beach and Mission Viejo, is one of seven nonprofit hospitals operated by Irvine, Calif.-based St. Joseph Hoag Health.
Here are three things to know about Mr. Salaway.
1. Among his responsibilities as COO, Mr. Salaway will play a key role in developing the hospital's strategic direction, oversee an array of clinical and ancillary programs and identify and develop opportunities for growth.
2. Mr. Salaway comes to Mission Hospital from Keck Medical Center of the University of Southern California in Los Angeles, where he was COO.
3. He earned a master's degree in healthcare administration from the University of Washington, based in Seattle. He also earned a master's degree in public health, with an emphasis in epidemiology and health services, and a master's degree in international relations, from the University of Washington.
