Lewiston, Maine-based St. Mary's Health System named Peter Holden interim president, according to a Lewiston-Auburn Sun Journal report.
Here are five things to know:
1. Mr. Holden will assume the role Sept. 11.
2. He takes over from President and CEO Chris A. Chekouras, who is stepping down Oct. 6. The health system is also dropping "CEO" from the position's title.
3. Most recently, Mr. Holden served as president and CEO of Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital-Plymouth (Mass.).
4. He was also previously president of Good Samaritan Hospital in Brockton, Mass.
5. Mr. Holden will serve as interim leader of the organization for nine months or until Tewksbury, Mass.-based Covenant Health — St. Mary's parent — names a new permanent leader.
