Memphis, Tenn.-based St. Jude Children's Research Hospital has named James Downing, MD, as its new CEO, effective July 15.
Dr. Downing recently served as deputy director, executive vice president and scientific director at St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. He has worked on genome sequencing efforts and oversaw the Pediatric Cancer Genome Project.
"Dr. Downing is truly a visionary scientific and medical leader who has dedicated much of his professional life to St. Jude," said Rick Shadyac, CEO of the American Lebanese Syrian Associated Charities, the fundraising arm of the hospital, in the release.
