Jack Weiner, PharmD, president and CEO of St. Joseph Mercy Oakland in Pontiac, Mich., is retiring.
Here are six things to know about Dr. Weiner and his retirement.
1. Dr. Weiner's retirement will take effect June 30, 2016.
2. Dr. Weiner has led SJMO for the past 12 years.
3. During Dr. Weiner's tenure, the hospital has done a $300 million campus redevelopment and opened its south tower, and has implemented a fully-integrated suite of care and safety tools known as the Intelligent Care System and the iDashboard accountability system. Additionally, in 2005, SJMO established the first Michigan Stroke Network, using robots to connect stroke patients with specialists across the state.
4. Previously, Dr. Weiner was president and CEO of St. Joseph Mercy Macomb in Chesterfield, Mich. There, he led the launch of an open-heart surgery program and $30 million expansion.
5. Dr. Weiner also previously held leadership roles with St. Mary's Health Care in Grand Rapids, Mich., and was president and CEO of Northeastern Hospital in Philadelphia.
His other previous roles include: president of Mount Clemens (Mich.) General Hospital; vice president of marketing, planning and business development at W.A. Foote Memorial Hospital in Jackson, Mich.; and administrative manager at Bronson Methodist Hospital in Kalamazoo, Mich.
6. A search has begun for Dr. Weiner's successor.
