Chicago-based St. Bernard Hospital has selected Michael Richardson, BSN, RN, for the new role of patient safety and quality officer, effective Sept. 27.
He will be responsible for directing the hospital's new patient safety and quality department.
Mr. Richardson has 30 years of nursing experience in emergency care, hospice, pediatrics, oncology, and transplant services, a news release shared with Becker's said. He most recently served as assistant director of risk management at Hollywood, Fla.-based Memorial Healthcare System.
"Michael believes that 'zero harm' is achievable within healthcare by engaging employees, patients, and families in patient safety principles and by fostering a culture of transparency and trust," said Charles Holland, president and CEO of St. Bernard Hospital.
