Grand Rapids, Mich.-based Spectrum Health has appointed Gwen G. Sandefur as the new COO of Spectrum Health Grand Rapids.
Here are five things to know about Ms. Sandefur.
1. Ms. Sandefur began her new role Aug. 3.
2. As COO, she will lead day-to-day operations for Spectrum Health Grand Rapids and oversee the development and implementation of long-range plans, goals and objectives for the organization.
3. Ms. Sandefur has extensive experience in healthcare administration, most recently serving as the executive vice president and COO of St. Mary's Health and president of St. Mary's Medical Center in Evansville, Ind., a member of St. Louis-based Ascension Health.
4. Previously, she served as senior vice president of strategic development and regional operations for St. Mary's Health System/Seton Health Corporation. Prior to joining St. Mary's Health, she worked for St. Vincent Health in Indianapolis.
5. Ms. Sandefur earned her Master of Health Services Administration from Ann Arbor-based University of Michigan and her Bachelor of Science in public health from Indiana University, which has core campuses in Bloomington and Indianapolis.
