Gene E. Green, MD, has been named president and CEO of South Shore Health and Educational Corp., the charitable health system that comprises Weymouth, Mass.-based South Shore Hospital, South Shore Physician Ambulatory Enterprise, Health Provider Services Organization and South Shore Hospital Charitable Foundation.
Here are five things to know about Dr. Green.
1. He will join the organization Nov. 3.
2. He will succeed Richard H. Aubut, RN, who has served as SSH&EC president and CEO since 2005, and who will retire with 27 years of service to the health system.
3. Since 2013, Dr. Green has been president of Suburban Hospital in Bethesda, Md.
4. Previously, Dr. Green was vice president of medical affairs and CMO of Johns Hopkins Community Physicians, a 400-provider, multi-specialty group practice with 37 sites located throughout Maryland and the Washington, D.C. area.
5. Dr. Green earned his medical degree at Eastern Virginia Medical School in Norfolk, where he also completed a residency in family medicine and internal medicine. In addition, he has a Master of Business Administration from Baltimore-based Johns Hopkins University.
