Baltimore-based Sheppard Pratt Health System has named Harsh K. Trivedi, MD, president and CEO, effective July 1.
Here are five things to know about Dr. Trivedi.
1. He is currently CEO of Vanderbilt Psychiatric Hospital in Nashville, Tenn.
2. In his new role, he will be Sheppard Pratt's sixth president and CEO in 125 years.
3. Dr. Trivedi, a double board-certified psychiatrist and seasoned physician executive with formal business training, succeeds Steven S. Sharfstein, MD, who will step down after more than three decades with the health system. Dr. Sharfstein will remain part of Sheppard Pratt as president emeritus and clinical psychiatrist.
4. Dr. Trivedi is currently editor of Child and Adolescent Psychiatric Clinics of North America, chairman of the American Psychiatric Association Council on Healthcare Systems and Financing, and serves on the American Hospital Association governing council for psychiatric and substance abuse services.
5. Dr. Trivedi earned his medical degree at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai in New York City, and a physician executive master's degree in business administration from the Haslam College of Business at the University of Tennessee in Knoxville.
