Shepherd Center CEO Dr. Gary Ulicny to retire next year; Sarah Morrison to succeed him

Atlanta-based Shepherd Center President and CEO Gary Ulicny, PhD, is retiring, effective March 31, 2017. He has led the 152-bed, nonprofit spinal cord and brain injury rehabilitation hospital for 22 years.

Dr. Ulicny was named to his current roles in 1994, and during his tenure the hospital was a fixture on U.S. News & World Report's best rehabilitation hospitals in the nation list. He has also previously received the American College of Physicians' Edward Loveland Award for distinguished contributions in healthcare.

Sarah Morrison will succeed Dr. Ulicny. She currently serves as vice president of clinical services at Shepherd Center, a post she has held since 2012. Before then, she was the director of the Shepherd Center Spinal Cord Injury Program, which serves nearly 600 inpatients each year. She has been with Shepard since 1984.
