After 18 years without a COO, San Diego-based Scripps Health has appointed Shiraz Fagan to the position, and also named Rick Neale as chief growth officer.
Ms. Fagan has been with Scripps since 2002, previously serving as COO of the Scripps Clinic and CEO of the Scripps Medical Foundation. For the past five years, she has managed the daily operations of Scripps Clinic, Scripps Coastal Medical Center and the Scripps Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgery Group.
Mr. Neale previously served as corporate senior vice president of corporate development. As CGO, he will expand his role to bring even greater alignment to our areas of revenue growth. He has held several leadership positions at Scripps since he first joined the organization in 2008, and led a successful realignment of Clinical Research Services.
Both new positions will be funded through administrative restructuring and will come at no additional cost.
"As many of you know, it has been quite some time since we made major changes or additions to our senior executive team," Scripps President and CEO Chris Van Gorder wrote in a memo to employees. "Leadership stability is important and Scripps has been very fortunate in this regard. But the realities of a new healthcare landscape mean it is time for these new roles."
