San Francisco's Chinese Hospital promotes 2 execs to replace departing CEO

Chinese Hospital in San Francisco named Jian Zhang, DNP, CEO and Deena Louie CEO of the Chinese Community Health Plan, replacing Brenda Yee, according to a San Francisco Business Times report.

Ms. Yee previously served as CEO of both the hospital and the health plan. She left the post abruptly Oct. 3. She was a controversial figure during her tenure, coming under fire for her high CEO salary and for hiring a family member.. The hospital also faced a massive lawsuit involving a physician group affiliated with the health plan and hospital. Additionally, Chinese Hospital reportedly suffered a $17.4 million net operating loss in 2016; however hospital Board Chairman James Ho rejected that number, according to the report.

Following Ms. Yee's departure, the hospital decided to split the CEO role into two separate positions overseeing the hospital and health plan.

Dr. Zhang previously served as the hospital's COO. Ms. Louie was formerly the health plan's COO. She has previous experience working at San Francisco Health Plan.
