Nashville, Tenn.-based Saint Thomas Health changed the leadership structure at three of its hospitals, according to a Cannon Courier report.
As a result of the changes, Andy Wachtel, CEO of three Saint Thomas Health hospitals, is transitioning out of the role. He has held the role since 2016. The health system named a new chief administrative officer and director of nursing at each of the hospitals: Saint Thomas Highlands Hospital in Sparta, Tenn., Saint Thomas Stones River Hospital in Woodbury, Tenn., and Saint Thomas DeKalb Hospital in Smithville, Tenn.
Here are 10 notes:
1. Richard Tumlin will serve as interim chief administrative officer and Jennifer Halfacre as interim director of nursing at Saint Thomas Highlands Hospital.
2. Mr. Tumlin most recently served as COO of Southern Hills Hospital in Nashville.
3. Ms. Halfacre is currently responsible for surgical services at Saint Thomas Highlands, which will continue in addition to her new role.
4. Brian Gill is the new chief administrative officer at Saint Thomas Stones River Hospital.
5. Mr. Gill is active within the behavioral health services at several Saint Thomas hospitals.
6. Brad Mullinax will step into the chief administrative officer role at Saint Thomas DeKalb Hospital.
7. Mr. Mullinax formerly served as the director of clinical operations at Saint Thomas DeKalb.
8. Emily Elrod will serve as director of nursing at both Saint Thomas Stones River and DeKalb hospitals.
9. Ms. Elrod was previously director of clinical operations at Saint Thomas Stones River Hospital.
10. Saint Thomas Health also removed the clinical operations position at each hospital.
"As we continue to make our care delivery operations more efficient, we have made the decision to form separate leadership teams for Saint Thomas DeKalb, Highlands and Stones River Hospitals, allowing for a focus on growth, quality and operational excellence at each hospital," said Gordon Ferguson, president and CEO of Saint Thomas Rutherford Hospital in Murfreesboro, Tenn., and president of Saint Thomas regional hospitals, according to the report.
