Nashville, Tenn.-based Saint Thomas Health, part of St. Louis-based Ascension Health, has announced two leadership promotions, according to a Lebanon Democrat report.
Here are eight things to know about the leaders who were promoted.
Don King, who previously served as COO of Saint Thomas Midtown and Saint Thomas West hospitals, both in Nashville, will now become president and CEO of the two hospitals.
1. Mr. King served as COO of Saint Thomas West beginning in 2011.
2. During his tenure as COO of Saint Thomas West, he oversaw a $110 million construction project that included critical care areas, hybrid operating rooms and an intraoperative MRI suite for the advanced treatment of brain tumors, according to the report.
3. He also has led both Saint Thomas Midtown and Saint Thomas West in "transformational change through improved processes to eliminate variation and waste," the report notes.
4. Prior to joining Saint Thomas Health, Mr. King was COO for Lee's Summit (Mo.) Medical Center, a position he held from 2008 to 2011.
Bernie Sherry, who took over the role of president and CEO of Saint Thomas Midtown and Saint Thomas West hospitals in 2013, will now become COO of Saint Thomas Health.
5. Mr. Sherry joined Saint Thomas Health in 2000, serving as vice president of managed care, leading payer strategies for the system.
6. Before taking over the role of CEO of Saint Thomas Midtown and Saint Thomas West campuses, Mr. Sherry was president and CEO of Saint Thomas Midtown.
7. During his career with Saint Thomas Health, he led operational and strategic integration of Saint Thomas West and Saint Thomas Midtown hospitals as Saint Thomas Health "created a unified identity across the region," according to the report.
8. Prior to joining Saint Thomas Health, Mr. Sherry held increasingly responsible leadership roles at Greenville (S.C.) Health System.
