Daniel Blum, MHA, has been appointed president of Phelps Memorial Hospital Center in Sleepy Hollow, N.Y.
Mr. Blum's appointment comes as the hospital transitions to become a member of Great Neck, N.Y.-based North Shore-LIJ Health System.
From 2009 until assuming his new role as president, Mr. Blum served as Phelps' senior vice president. In that role, he developed Phelps Medical Associates, the hospital's multispecialty medical group, and oversaw the implementation of the hospital's strategic plans and clinical ancillary services.
In addition to his responsibilities as president, Mr. Blum will continue serving as collaborating administrative executive on Phelps' Graduate Medical Education Committee and chairman of the board of the hospital's child care center.
Mr. Blum succeeds Keith Safian, who led the hospital for 25 years.
