Paul Bengtson to Lead AHA Section for Small or Rural Hospitals

Paul Bengtson, CEO of Northeastern Vermont Regional Hospital in St. Johnsbury, has assumed his position as chair of the American Hospital Association's Section for Small or Rural Hospitals for 2014.

The council represents small or rural hospitals in AHA's policy process and member service initiatives.

The AHA selected Joann Anderson, president and CEO of Southeastern Regional Medical Center in Lumberton, N.C., as chair-elect for 2015.

The governing council also elected the following healthcare leaders to three-year terms.

Daniel Derksen, MD, University of Arizona Public Health Policy and Management College of Public Health in Tuscon
Warren West, CEO of Littleton (N.H.) Regional Hospital
Jason Hawkins, president and CEO of Fulton County Medical Center in McConnellsburg, Pa.
Mark Webster, president and CEO of Claxton-Hepburn Medical Center in Ogdensburg, N.Y.
Cheryl Hays, administrator of Marshall Medical Center North in Guntersville, Ala.
Jason Merkley, CEO of Brookings (S.D.) Health System
Jason Spring, North Valley Hospital in Whitefish, Mont.
John G. Williams, CEO of Barton Memorial Hospital in South Lake Tahoe, Calif.
