Peter Brown, chief of staff at Boston-based Partners HealthCare, will leave the health system Thursday to begin the next stage of his career in public affairs.
His exit follows that of former Partners President Gary Gottlieb, MD, who left in March. Dr. Gottlieb now serves as CEO of Partners in Health, a nonprofit organization that provides medical care in impoverished counties. (Despite the similarity in name, Partners in Health is not affiliated with Partners HealthCare.) David Torchiana, MD, former chairman and CEO of the Massachusetts General Physicians Organization, succeeded him in the CEO role.
Mr. Brown first worked in television news before spending 11 years at Partners, working closely with Dr. Gottlieb in that time, according to the Boston Globe. He will launch Peter Brown Communications to help organizations tell their stories to the public and employees.
Deborah Colton, senior vice president for strategic communication with the Massachusetts General Physicians Organization, will become Partners' new chief of staff.
