Ohio system CEO to retire; new leader named

Rick Haines, president and CEO of Canton, Ohio-based Aultman Health Foundation, has shared plans to retire after 43 years of service, effective July 1.

Mr. Haines will be succeeded by Rob Mullen, senior vice president of strategy and chief legal officer for Aultman Health Foundation, according to a May 29 Aultman news release.

While Mr. Haines will step down July 1, he will stay on board to help Mr. Mullen during a transitional period.

Mr. Haines has served as president and CEO of Aultman since July, 2021. Prior to that, he served as president and CEO of AultCare, an affiliated health insurance company of Aultman Health Foundation. 

Prior to joining Aultman in 2009, Mr. Mullen served as district director and legal counsel for U.S. Rep. Ralph Regula. 

Following Mr. Haines retirement, Tiffany Good-Witmer, RN, senior vice president of quality and care coordination will serve as COO and Steven Kelly, MD, will serve as CMO for Aultman Health Foundation. Dr. Kelly will continue his role in general surgery at Aultman in addition to his new role as CMO. 

AultCare president Mark Wright will maintain his position along with his role as CFO of Aultman Health Foundation.

The Aultman Health Foundation is a nonprofit health system that comprises Aultman Hospital in Canton, Aultman Orrville (Ohio) Hospital, Aultman Alliance (Ohio) Community Hospital, The Aultman Foundation, Aultman College in Canton, and AultCare. It has more than 1,000 providers and over 7,000 employees, according to the release.
