Northwell hires new VP of prevention, provides her with $5M endowment

Northwell Health has appointed Felicia Hill-Briggs, PhD, vice president for prevention. She will be responsible for establishing and expanding disease prevention research and care programs at Northwell's Feinstein Institutes for Medical Research, a news release shared with Becker's Sept. 7 said.

Dr. Hill-Briggs has also been hired by New Hyde Park, N.Y.-based Northwell as a professor at the Institute of Health System Science, and was awarded a $5 million grant by the Simons Foundation to assist in her clinical research.

Dr. Hill-Briggs most recently worked as a professor in the Division of General Internal Medicine at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine in Baltimore.

"From diabetes to heart health, the key to treating any disease is prevention, intervention and making care accessible to everyone," said Dr. Hill-Briggs. "I am looking forward to joining the Feinstein Institutes and thanks to the Simons Foundation's generous support, I hope to initiate and investigate new methods of reaching patients, overcoming social hurdles and implementing novel care approaches across our communities."
