The chair of the board of trustees at the Beaufort County Medical Center in Washington, N.C., has unexpectedly resigned, following the resignation of former BCMC CEO Bill Bedsole at the end of June, according to a report by WTN.
Chairman Sandy Hardy said he was resigning because he thought the board needed new leadership. The board voted unanimously to install board vice chair Alice Mills-Sadler as interim chair.
His resignation coincided with a controversial 5-4 vote, in which the board decided not to hire a new interim CEO and instead continue with the hospital's acting CEO, Susan Gerard.
