David Whitaker, president and CEO of Norman (Okla.) Regional Health System, is leaving his post, according to The Norman Transcript.
Here are five things to know about Mr. Whitaker.
1. He has served at Norman Regional for 17 years.
2. During his tenure at Norman Regional, the system has expanded to multiple sites, according to The Norman Transcript. That growth included the purchase of Moore (Okla.) Medical Center in 2007, the opening of the HealthPlex, a specialty hospital in Norman, and, following the devastation of the 2013 tornado, the construction of Norman Regional Moore, a $29 million healthcare facility scheduled to open this year in Moore. Okla.
3. "David has been a champion for our health system from the patients it serves to the employees who work to provide quality care," said Tom Clote, Norman Regional Health Authority board chairman, according to The Norman Transcript. "We appreciate David's ability to successfully navigate our health system through the ever-changing and complex healthcare environment. We are thankful for his years of service and wish him the best in his new endeavors."
4. Mr. Whitaker's last day at his post will be March 26.
5. His future plans were not disclosed to The Norman Transcript.
