South Nassau Communities Hospital in Oceanside, N.Y., has named Adhi Sharma, MD, senior vice president of medical affairs and CMO.
Here are six things to know about Dr. Sharma.
1. In his role, he will:
- Facilitate medical staff communication with hospital administration and the governing board.
- Ensure the effective and efficient delivery of quality medical care.
- Oversee strategic planning and execution, as well as the implementation of care management programs.
- Monitor the effectiveness of management practices and productivity indicators.
2. He had been serving as interim CMO of South Nassau.
3. He joined South Nassau in 2014 as the hospital's medical director for utilization after serving at Progressive Emergency Physicians, where he was COO.
4. Previously, he was in senior administrative positions at Rockville Centre, N.Y.-based Catholic Health Services of Long Island. His prior positions included chairman of the department of emergency medicine at Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center in West Islip, N.Y., and medical director of patient safety and simulation center.
5. Dr. Sharma was also previously director of the division of toxicology and an attending physician in the emergency department at Queens, N.Y.-based Elmhurst Hospital Center, and chairman of the department of emergency medicine at now-closed Victory Memorial Hospital in Brooklyn, N.Y.
6. He has co-authored papers published in the Journal of Emergency Medicine, Academy of Emergency Medicine and Emergency Medicine Clinics of North America. Dr. Sharma has also authored chapters published in clinical textbooks, including Rosen's Textbook of Emergency Medicine; 5-Minute Pediatric Emergency Medicine Consult and Goldfrank's Toxicologic Emergencies.
