Jeffrey Menkes, president and CEO of Manhattan-based New York Downtown Hospital, has resigned, effective March 1, according to a DNAinfo report.
Mr. Menkes has led the financially struggling hospital since 2007, according to the report.
His resignation comes prior to NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital's proposed takeover of New York Downtown. "[N]ew leadership needs to be focused on the final alignments needed to get us ready for merger with NewYork Presbyterian…That leadership needs to come from within NewYork Presbyterian to guarantee the best transition," Mr. Menkes wrote in his resignation letter, according to DNAinfo.
