Carol Gomes, FACHE, CPHQ, has been named COO of Stony Brook (N.Y.) University Hospital. 
Ms. Gomes has been serving as the hospital's interim COO since October 2012. Prior to that, she served as director of operations, among other roles. She joined SBUH in 1985.
In addition to her duties at SBUH, Ms. Gomes is a lecturer in the School of Health Technology and Management at Stony Brook Medicine.
Ms. Gomes earned a master's degree in healthcare management and administration and a master's degree in management and policy from Stony Brook (N.Y.) University.
