New Orleans-based Children's Hospital selected Raymond G. Watts, MD, to serve as pediatrician-in-chief, a newly created role.
Here are five things to know:
1. Dr. Watts also will serve as the hospital's principal academic officer, working to ensure the hospital remains a preferred training site for pediatricians in the region.
2. He is the William H. Stewart, MD Chair in Pediatrics at the LSU Health New Orleans School of Medicine. He is also head of the pediatrics department at LSU Health New Orleans.
3. He will continue in his current roles in addition to assuming the new pediatrician-in-chief role at Children's Hospital.
4. He has served on the medical staff at Children's since 2015. Before that, he was a member of the pediatric faculty at the University of Alabama at Birmingham.
5. Dr. Watts completed a pediatric hematology/oncology fellowship at UAB, where he also served as director of the pediatric hematology and oncology division.
