New leadership, facilities: Inside University of Iowa Health Care's rebrand

Iowa City-based University of Iowa Health Care has made several changes to its team and branding over the past year.

The following leadership changes were made:

  • Mark Burkard, MD, PhD, was named director of the Holden Comprehensive Cancer Center.

  • Jim Leste was appointed chief administrative officer of UI Health Care Stead Family Children's Hospital.

  • Jennifer Miller was named chief administrative officer of UI Health Care Medical Center Downtown.

  • Jody Reyes, BSN, RN, was selected as COO of the clinical enterprise.

  • Frederick Frank, DO, was named associate chief medical officer of the health system's downtown campus.

  • Kim Volk, RN, was named associate chief nursing officer of the downtown campus.

  • Bradley Haws became CEO of the clinical enterprise and associate vice president of the health system.

  • Denise Jamieson, MD, became vice president for medical affairs in August.

The system began rolling out its branding updates in May, as University of Iowa Health Care Medical Center replaced the former name University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics.

Mercy Iowa City was also renamed University of Iowa Health Care Medical Center Downtown. This comes after University of Iowa Health Care acquired Mercy following its filing for bankruptcy last August.

Other changes throughout the system include its new North Liberty medical facility, set to open in 2025 as home for the Department of Orthopedics and Rehabilitation.

Services at the location will include an emergency department, walk-in care for orthopedic injuries, inpatient and outpatient care, and physical therapy and rehabilitation services, according to a July 17 news release from the system.
