New Jersey chief nursing officer retires after 50 years

Chief Nursing Officer Nancy Bisco-Flora, BSN, RN, is retiring after nearly 50 years at Newark, N.J.-based Saint Michael's Medical Center, TapintoNewark reported Jan. 10.

Ms. Bisco-Flora started at Saint Michael's as a teenager working as a candy striper and was hired as a nurse in 1976. In 2000, she was hired to lead corporate compliance for four hospitals and was appointed chief nursing officer in 2016. 

Although she is retiring from the chief nursing officer role, she is returning to the hospital as needed as a per diem nursing supervisor.
