West Orange, N.J.-based RWJBarnabas Health has named Fernando (Ferd) Ferrer, MD, chief pediatric officer.
His appointment is effective immediately, the health system said in a July 8 news release sent to Becker's. As chief pediatric officer, Dr. Ferrer will develop care standards and models for the health system, working closely with Bill Faverzani, senior vice president of children's health, and other medical and administrative leaders.
He joins RWJBarnabas from New York City-based Mount Sinai Health System, where he most recently served as senior vice president of children's services and chief operating officer of Mount Sinai Kravis Children's Hospital.
"As a seasoned leader in children’s health administration, strategy and development with national following in his specialty of pediatric urology, Dr. Freer will provide the clinical leadership essential to establish the pediatric care standards and care model for RWJBarnabas Health," Mark Manigan, president and CEO of RWJBarnabas Health, said in a news release.
