Stephen Pitts, CEO of Morehouse General Hospital in Bastrop, La., is leaving his position, according to a KNOE report.
Here are three things to know about Mr. Pitts and his resignation.
1. Mr. Pitts said he decided to resign because rural hospitals are struggling and he believes he has done everything he can, according to the report.
2. His decision to resign comes as several changes are in the works for the hospital. MGH is looking to partner with a larger organization and has published request for proposals on its website. Specifically, the hospital would like another organization to manage the daily operations and to add more services, or take over the building lease, Mr. Pitts told KNOE.
3. Potential interim CEOs will be reviewed.
