Minidoka Memorial Hospital administrator to retire by 2016: 5 things to know

Carl Hanson, administrator at Rupert, Idaho-based Minidoka Memorial Hospital, will retire from the hospital this year, according to a Times-News report.

Here are five things to know about Mr. Hanson.

1. He will retire Dec. 15.

2. Of his decision to retire, Mr. Hanson told the Times-News, "It’s time for a change." He added, "I've worked as a hospital CEO in Idaho and Montana for the past 30 years and look forward to doing something different."

3. Mr. Hanson has been at the helm of the county-owned hospital for the past 18 years.

4. During his tenure at MMH, Mr. Hanson led the hospital through recruitment, increased utilization and improved financial performance, according to the report. He also oversaw four major construction projects that updated and rebuilt the hospital, nursing home and clinic buildings.

5. MMH's board selected Tom Murphy as Mr. Hanson's replacement. Mr. Murphy is CEO of Weiser (Idaho) Memorial Hospital and previously was CFO at Weiser from 2007 to 2011. He will join the Rupert hospital in November.
